Summer Send-Off
Whew, I've almost made it through summer. Fall is in the air. It's dark when I get up at 6AM. The air is fresh and zesty cool. I find myself pulling my robe in tighter around my waist as I navigate the darkness on my way to the kitchen for that first cup of coffee. Tastes so good in the dark and coolness of dawn. As my dear, devoted readers know, I'm not a summer person. I'm not high energy. Although I love our vegetable garden and my gorgeous flowers, I don't enjoy the endless hours of light and the stifling heat. (I have to say we haven't had much heat this summer.) I keep looking at the quilt sitting on the floor beside my chair. It needs some attention. But that's a fall and winter project. I'm dreaming about making a big pot of Navy Bean or Vegetable Beef soup, dipping in some warm crusty bread and eating until I'm full, then sitting back and stitching away. Soon, very soon.
