Asleep At The Wheel

I heard a snippet of the Pope's farewell address this morning on the news.  I'm not sure of the context, but I heard him say that during troubled times he has felt like "the Lord was sleeping".  Wow, who among us hasn't felt that way?  I'm not Catholic and the Pope is  not my spiritual guru, but I admire and respect his gut level honesty.
