Since I'm not a celebrity watcher, (I don't know Britney Spears from Paris Hilton or Courtney Love or Reese
Witherspoon), I don't know much about Michael Jackson. I do know that for some reason he was able to capture the American lust for stardom. From what I read and hear in the news, the life of a star is pretty much soul-deprived. The talent that is a gift from God is sold for the empty promises that mansions, cars, jewelery, adoring crowds, and plastic surgeries give. In the daytime, the lights, music, cheering mobs, millions of dollars and obsessed fans give excitement, elation, and even euphoria; in the dark of night it takes an anesthesia drug to induce sleep. I did like some of Michael Jackson's music and believe he probably was judged unfairly some of the time. Celebrity status has got to make it nearly impossible to maintain a sense of reality. I think Laura
Ingalls Wilder had it right when she so wisely said,
"It's the sweet, simple things that are the real ones, after all." With that said, here is my list for this week:
1. Watching Gage catch his first fish with Grandpa Lenny.

2. Keeping up with friends and family on Facebook.
3. Getting a new mailbox that won't blow over in the North Dakota wind!

4. My bright yellow watering can.

5. Windows I can see out of courtesy of Brite-Way window cleaners --a gift from my fabulous husband who knows I'd rather read and write than clean windows.
P.S. As a rule I don't share pet peeves, but today I am really annoyed by wheels on grocery carts that go awry as I'm trying to go peacefuly down the aisles! The cart wants to go one way and I want to go another. No, I don't care to browse through the cleaning supplies, I want to check out the ICE CREAM in the freezer aisle. Bringing a frisky cart under control is more work than years ago when the children were with me and wanted nothing but the Oreos and Lucky Charms aisles!
I think you put that very well.
