The News from Whispering Pines

Whispering Pines was a-buzz with activity this week-end as relatives from distant points were in attendance for a Saturday evening barbecue as well as Sunday Supper. On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. David Kanenwisher motored up from Fargo in their newly purchased Ford Focus Sedan. Mr. and Mrs. Brewer admired the car's shimmery aqua color and the modern features, such as automatic transmission, air conditioning, and front-wheel drive. Mr. Brewer cooked steaks and corn on the cob on the charcoal grill, while Mrs. Brewer baked sliced sweet potatoes in olive oil and rosemary. The meal was enjoyed by all. Mrs. Brewer presented the quilt to David and Jenilee that was their wedding gift 2 years ago. It's finally finished!

Sunday brought guests from as far away as Oakland, California. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Aakhus motored all the way from the Minneapolis airport to the farm of Mrs. Lucille Loftesnes, which is Mrs. Aakhus' parental home. Present for Sunday Supper at the Lenard Brewer residence were Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Loftesnes, Mrs. Lucille Loftesnes, and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Aakhus. Mr. Brewer served up pork chops on his charcoal grill, while Mrs. Brewer stirred up Pennsylvania-Dutch Potato Salad. Mrs. Lucille Loftesnes brought her baked beans and Mrs. Darrel Loftesnes, her broccoli raisin salad. The meal was enjoyed by all. After dinner LuAnn Aakhus presented gifts to the ladies from her recent trip to China. The group was entertained, with much laughter and hilarity, by stories of her adventures and misadventures in the Far East.

A photo was taken of Mrs. Lucille Loftesnes, Mrs. Pam Brewer, Mrs. LuAnn Aakhus, and Mr. Darrel Loftesnes. Missing was their sister, Mrs. Maureen Lang, who resides in Colorado Springs and was unable to be in attendance. She visited at her parental home in North Dakota last week.
Whispering Pines was alive with the throb of shared heritage, shared memories, and a flutter of the sweetness yet to come.
