Dear Diary, It felt like spring today. When I left work I had to step over a stream of water running down the hill where my car was parked. There were still icy patches to step gingerly over, but mostly the pavement was dry. I tried to avoid puddles as I drove home, but other cars sharing the road with me had no problem sending large splashes of muddy water onto my car as they drove by. Oh well, keeping a car clean for very long in North Dakota is a futile hope. When I visit in California I'm amazed at how clean and shiny the cars are. They don't seem to have mud and gravel roads! That's probably why there are so many pick-ups in North Dakota and so many sports cars in California!
***************************************************************As my dear readers may recall, I mentioned in my list of Birthday Bonuses that I have learned to like being ordinary. Well, maybe not so much. I have times when I am haunted by the feeling that I don't accomplish enough or that I'm not successful. I tend to collect quotes and I came across this one by Henri Nouwen that helps calm my anxious mind.
"We have been called to be fruitful--not successful, not productive, not accomplished. Success comes from strength, stress, and human effort. Fruitfulness comes from vulnerability and the admission of our own weakness."
What a great quote. I like it.
