Yesterday, on my day off, I found myself in the self-help book section at Barnes and Noble. It seems my radar in a bookstore eventually takes me to the books that hold out promises for me. How I can reduce anxiety, how I can heal depression, how I can have more fulfilling relationships, how I can live more simply, how I can nurture my inner child. While I believe these books do truly have some nuggets of wisdom, the older I get the more I realize I have the same wisdom! Part of that wisdom is recognizing the good things in my life. With that, here is my list for today:
1. Reconnecting with a friend I hadn't seen for 10 years.
2. Eating watermelon that doesn't have those big black seeds.
3. Whipping up a stir-fry for supper out of left-overs I had in the fridge. (OK, so I bought some mushrooms, what is stir-fry without mushrooms?)
4. Seeing pictures of my daughter-in-law glow as her belly grows!
5. Sitting in the backseat while my neice learns to drive.
Who needs self-help books?
Great nuggets-o-wisdom! I agree self-help books are usually unnecessary...except baby books right now. Ha ha.
