Sweet, Simple Things

Wednesday, mid-week, always seems like a good time to post "Sweet, Simple Things". By then the week is beginning to wear me down and a hearty dose of gratitude helps to lift my spirits and propel me towards Friday where rest and relief abide. Where I work every day holds pain and suffering, so it's imperative to remind myself of the good things in life. With that "downer" intro, here is my list:

1. This is my screensaver, and not only does this photo save my screen, it saves my day. Having a grandchild is the purest form of love I've experienced so far.

2. Decorating our home for Christmas. Thanks to Lenny, I absorb the holiday spirit. He loves to string lights, decorate, and buy presents! I especially love lighting candles. I've always been a candle person. I like to welcome a spiritual prescence and candles do that for me.

3. Wednesday night comfort food. Tonight I made one of the oldest dishes in my recipe box: "Tuna Bake with Cheese Swirls". Divine comfort.

4. Watching our cat and dog play together. They're about the same size and quite a pair when they roll around on top of each other and chase around the house.

5. A clean house. God Bless my cleaning woman. I'm the luckiest person in the world to be able to pay someone to clean my house. I don't mind cleaning, but I'm not good at it. My standards are too low.

I challenge my dear readers to make a list (at least in your head) of your sweet, simple things.

  1. I agree on the perspective needed on giving thanks after a long hard day. I am thankful for my loving family, walks past the lake with Mr. Sid Vicious and slowly learning to cook better, one experiment at a time.

  3. I love that Tuna Bake recipe. I have to make it when only Del and I are going to be here. The girls don't have the same love for tuna that we have. Thank you for continuing to post items for me to read. I check it everyday in hopes of a new story :) Have a great weekend.
    Love,
    Maureen

  4. Mmmm! Your Tuna Bake looks divine! You inspire me. Do you use Bisquick for the rolls or make them from scratch? It takes alot of time and I don't usually keep Bisquick in the pantry....how nice it is to make home-cooked meals.
