Sous Chef
I'm having so much fun in the kitchen since my son and daughter-in-law came to visit. I like to cook, but my dishes are pretty plain. Sophia is a very good cook. She knows her way around a kitchen. I've been learning all kinds of things as her"sous chef". (Wait a minute, isn't the mother-in-law supposed to be teaching the daughter-in-law?) She has a way with parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, oregano, basil, ginger and all that "gourmet" stuff. She adds them to my ordinary dishes such as chili or roast chicken or baked squash or cooked carrots and they give the taste buds a whole new experience. She's asked me for cooking utensils and "staples" that I've only read about or seen on a cooking show. By the time they leave, my kitchen is going to be fit for Rachel Ray or Emeril or the Iron Chef. I'm going to have the tools and the herbs and spices and I'm going to know how to use them! (Not only does she cook up a storm, she also bakes a killer chocolate chip cookie. I think I'll keep her.)
And is there a baby on your hip as you have these cooking lessons? Sue S.
