Saturday evening was an exciting time at Whispering Pines. David and Jenilee Kanenwisher motored from their home in Fargo to join Sam, Sophia, and Parker Kanenwisher who have been visiting from California at the Lenard and Pam Brewer home for the past 2 weeks. Due to the fact that all parties live long distances apart, this reunion of mother and her sons and their families is a rare and fabulous event.
Uncle David and Auntie Jenilee meet their nephew, Parker, for the first time.
Lenny Brewer and Sam Kanenwisher--happy the temperatures soared to the mid-thirties so they weren't freezing while grilling up steaks for supper.
The family hoisted their glasses in a toast to good food, strong family ties, and joyous celebrations. The meal of grilled steak, squash, onion, garlic, and potato bake, and spinach salad was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Dessert was prepared and served by Pam Brewer. She presented her popovers served with ice cream and homemade chocolate sauce. Second helpings were requested by all. After supper the group played a few games of Sequence and then retired to the basement where they bowled, played ping-pong, and golfed on David and Jenilee's Wii. Much laughter and hilarity ensued.
The celebration continued on Sunday morning when the group motored out to Norwich to have brunch at the Darrel and Teresa Loftesnes home.
Teresa had prepared scrambled egg paninis, a fruit plate, and deer sausage--all delicious. So delicious in fact, that David and Jenilee requested a package of deer sausage to take home with them.
After brunch, Pam's family surprised her with an early birthday party. Chocolate cake and balloons were brought out and all joined in singing "Happy Birthday". Pam was very much surprised and pleased.
After saying good-byes and safe traveling to David and Jenilee, the rest of the group retired to the livingroom to watch the Minnesota Vikings tromp on the Dallas Cowboys. Go Vikings!
The Brewer's prounonced the week-end a great joy and are hoping the next reunion of their family will come soon.
What a great time!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you...I can feel your joy all the way in Wyoming! Sue S.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful memories you made for your boys and their families this weekend. I think it's the little things that tip life's journey towards hapiness...not the big events, don't you?
