Laundry and Mutations

It was a pretty unremarkable day as far as days go. I didn't pay much attention to the news in the outside world. I usually feel calmer when I don't bother with the calamities happening pretty much everywhere. I did sneak a peak at the daily newspaper and read a sentence about swine flu in Mexico. Now that's bad news. A person could really get to worrying about swine flu. Mexico isn't that far away. I'm sure swine flu could hop on a bus and come on over. My immnune system may not be conditioned genetically to ward off swine flu, since it's a scary mutation. Why don't mutations do good things? Why are mutants super bugs and super cancers? Why can't snakes mutate and not be poisonous? Why don't mosquitoes mutate and when they bite secrete a substance that stops gray hair or wrinkles, or something?? Why can't breast cells mutate in a way that keeps them perky instead of causing cancer? Flowers could mutate so they would suvive in 30 below temperatures and we'd have color and fragrance in North Dakota winters! ...and I could go on.

Lest my worry infested mind get control of me, I did some laundry. After the sheets and quilt were washed I put them in a basket and carried them out to the clothes line. Now I hadn't hung clothes on a line outside for at least 10 years. What fun it was! There wasn't much of a wind for drying, but the sun was bright and strong for an April day. In a few minutes, I'll be crawling in between those spring breeze infused covers and probably sleeping more soundly than I have in a long time. I'll dream of a mutated hot fudge sundae/banana split that melts away abdominal fat!
