Tucking in the Tomatoes
Last night on the 6 o'clock news the weatherman gave a frost warning. I turned off the TV and ran around the house scrounging for blankets that had been packed away last spring. I felt like a doting mother as I tucked them in tight around the vulnerable blossoms and not quite ripe tomatoes. Our plants have given us so many tangy, juicy tomatoes this summer. We've enjoyed them sliced, stewed, cooked in chili, and chomped into like an apple right off the vine as we stood in the back yard. It's hard to give that up!
