On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Brewer motored out to the home of Mrs. Lucille Loftesnes for an evening meal. Whitney Loftesnes rode with them as she lives in Minot, as well. Also in attendance were Devan Lang, granddaughter of Mrs. Loftesnes, visiting from Colorado Springs, and Darrel and Teresa Loftesnes of Norwich. Many roads in the area are closed due to flooding so the family group was grateful that none of the roads leading to the Loftesnes farm were overcome by water. Lucille served up a simple, but delicious meal of sloppy joes and various summer salads. For dessert was home made ice cream with chocolate syrup and lemon bars. None of the family members have lost their homes to the Mouse River flood, but all have been helping other family, friends, and co-workers move belongings, build dikes, and sandbag. It was a gorgeous North Dakota summer night to relax in the cool breeze and enjoy each other's company for a few short hours. For Mr. and Mrs. Brewer the evening signaled the official end of their vacation. Even though their sabbath time didn't go exactly as planned, they both feel refreshed and ready to return to the "real" world tomorrow.
