Sweet, Simple Things

When I look out the livingroom window on April 30 and see a blizzard in progress, I need to find a place of sanity! It helps me to think of things to be grateful for. I am VERY grateful that a blizzard doesn't normally do the damage and devastation that tornadoes, eathquakes, and tsumanis are capable of. And since my blog is overdue for a post, I've decided that today is a good day for an edition of "Sweet, Simple Things".

1. On Wednesday of this week I spied a tiny purple flower in my flower bed. Last fall I planted several crocus bulbs and among the 5 or 6 green stalks poking through the dirt, there was one sporting a dainty purple blossom. I was so excited! Spring isn't taken for granted in this upper northern part of the country.

2. Diet Coke. I gave up Diet Coke for Lent and now it tastes so cool and refreshing to drink a can once in awhile. (Has to be in a can, or a glass with ice. No plastic bottled pop for me.)

3. Easter photo of our little family. Daisy even posed prettily. Yes, there is blue sky behind the trees and my toes are poking out of sandals for the first time in 2011.

4. Watching snippets from the Royal Wedding. Now, I know that was NOT a simple event, but watching it on TV was sweet and simple for me. It's good to escape into fantasy every now and then. But who could live there? (Well, maybe for a few days...then I'd come running home to Lenny and Daisy and Whispering Pines.) 5. Pink shoes! I've never owned a pair of pink shoes. But the young lady in the shoe department at Herberger's assured me they were a perfect match for my dress. And after watching the beautiful and stylish ladies at The Wedding yesterday, I was in the mood to have a little style myself.
