The News from Whispering Pines

Mrs. Pam Brewer spent the Thanksgiving Holiday visiting her son, daughter-in-law and grandson in California. For several days before her planned trip Mrs. Brewer had been watching the weather forecasts with fear and trepidation as a ferocious winter storm was said to be on the way. Wednesday morning did prove to be snowy and windy, but her 11AM flight took off from the Minot airport with no problem. In Minneapolis flights were delayed and planes waited in line to be de-iced.

Mrs. Brewer felt fearful that at any moment the flight could be cancelled as the weather was turning worse by the minute. But, alas, after a long wait for snowplows to clear the runway the plane took off and within a few minutes the plane was soaring above 10,000 feet where the sky was blue and the sun was shining.

Mrs. Brewer's sister, LuAnn Aakhus, who is a resident of Oakland met her at the airport. It was late so all parties retired early to get rested up for the Thanksgiving feast the next day.

The family gathered in LuAnn's kitchen on Thursday to help with the preparing of the meal. Mrs. Brewer's son and daughter-in-law are shown here peeling sweet potatoes.

Mrs. LuAnn Aakus is known for her ablility to put on a celebration and the group was not disappointed as the table was set beautifully and the meal was perfection. (It was heard there were a few minor mishaps, but those will not be spoken of here.)

Present around the table for the holiday dinner were Mrs. Pam Brewer, Mrs. LuAnn Aakhus, Sam, Sophia and Parker Kanenwisher, Loren Loftesnes and Rosita, Dave Aakhus, Liz Aakhus and Chris McGinnis. As Mr. Steve Aakhus was on a job assignment in Nigeria and Mr. Brewer was in Fargo, the family matriarchs, LuAnn Aakus and Pam Brewer presided joyfully over the table.

Even the dog, Sid, was present and decked out in holiday attire.

A blessed time was had by all as they laughed, feasted, told stories, and felt connected in a way that only family can.
