1. Listening to NPR while I get ready for work in the morning. It's like hearing the voice of a dear friend--comforting even when the news is bad. It's not sensational and urgent like many other networks on radio and TV.
2. Cleaning the kitchen after a meal. This will be quite shocking to those who knew me as a child and teen-ager. I HATED washing dishes and usually had tears streaming down my cheeks into the dishwater. I thought it was torture. I even wrote an essay for English class about my disdain for dish-washing. Now I'm all grown up and have a dishwasher but I do enjoy the process of tidying up everything in the kitchen after a meal. And I like to do it myself--it's time alone in my personal space. Lucky Lenny, he can cook to his heart's content and I am happy to clean up (most of the time).
3. When I tell someone about my grandson and that person says, "You can't be old enough to be a grandmother!" I smile sweetly and say, "Oh, but I am." I readily admit to my vanity. I love being a grandmother, but the aging part is hard on me.
4. A full moon on a clear night. I could stay awake all night and stare at it. (Well, maybe an hour or so.) So much mystery and romance and intrigue in that big orange/yellow ball in the night sky.
5. Don't have time to think of a No. 5, I need to go clean the kitchen!
