Nurse's Day

I've been a nurse for close to 30 years and I must say it's been quite a ride. I've worked nights, days, and evenings and I've been on call 24/7. I've worked 8 hour shifts, 10 hour shifts, and 12 hour shifts. I've worked many years on Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving. I've worked in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics and in homes. I've loved my job and I've hated my job. I've been a witness to extreme human suffering. I've been privileged to have the tools to eleviate a fraction of that suffering and I've also been scared to death that I've made a mistake that could have contributed to further suffering. I've worked side by side with many, many nurses. Some I would call role models, some I would say are in the wrong profession! My best friends have always been fellow nurses.

Nurses at the Cancer Center where I work sharing a laugh today. They're just a few of the nurses I have great admiration for.
I don't often brag, but today I am quite proud to be a nurse!
