The News from Whispering Pines

This past week-end Mrs. Brewer boarded a jet airplane and flew to San Francisco, CA. Her son, Sam Kanenwisher graduated on Saturday from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley with a Master's Degree in Divinity. Mr. Brewer motored to Fargo, ND where Mrs. Brewer's son, David Kanenwisher was running a half-marathon in the Fargo Marathon. Mrs. Brewer wanted to be both places, but even with the marvelous advances in today's technology that still wasn't possible. It was a day filled with pride and joy for her. Life is so full of the unpredictable. Mrs. Brewer will tell you that fifteen years ago Sam wasn't all that interested in school work and David wasn't too interested in physical activity. That made it a week-end in which Mrs. Brewer reveled in the knowledge that anything is possible. Darrel and Teresa Loftesnes also made the trip from North Dakota to California for the week-end festivities. Their son, Loren, lives and works in San Francisco so they were able to connect with him and tour the city as well as taking in the graduation ceremony.

The post graduation party was held at the home of Mrs. LuAnn Aakhus, sister of Mrs. Brewer and Mr. Loftesnes. Many friends stopped by to congratulate Sam and wish him well in his future endeavors.

Mr. Loren Loftesnes, cousin of the graduate, had the honor of popping the cork on the celebratory champagne.
And then, of course, there is Mr. Parker Andrew Kanenwisher, 8 1/2 month old baby of Sam and Sophia Kanenwisher, who was so proud of his Papa that he went to sleep.
Tired, but filled with joy, Mrs. Brewer reluctantly boarded the jet airplane on Monday morning and returned home to Whispering Pines. She reports she has many happy moments and memories to sustain her until the next time she can hold her family in her arms.

  1. Mrs. Brewer,
It was an extraordinary weekend, for sure. Being able to spend precious time with family is priceless in our fast-paced world. From Thursday eve's dinner to Sunday night's Chinese dinner, it was one of the most memorable get-togethers ever for us. Love, Darrel and Teresa
