The News from Whispering Pines
Sunday evening guests at the Lenard and Pam Brewer home were Mrs. Lucille Loftesnes, Darrel and Teresa Loftesnes, and Whitney Loftesnes. Mrs. Brewer popped open a bottle of rhubarb wine provided by Mrs. Lucille Loftesnes and served it wth crab salad and crackers for a tasty appetizer. For the main dish, Mr. Brewer prepared a delicious pork roast simmered all day in the crock pot with carrots, potatoes, and rutabagas. It was Whitney's first taste of the latter, and she pronounced it quite edible! Mrs. Teresa Loftesnes provided a broccoli-raisin salad which, they are sad to report, got left in the fridge and remembered after the meal was finished. They each took samples and decided to have it for lunch on Monday. Mrs. Lucille Loftesnes carried in a cherry cobbler for dessert that was served warm with vanilla ice cream. Entertainment after the delicious meal was provided by Mrs. Teresa Loftesnes playing selections on the piano from The Treasury of Great Hymns. Whitney had to leave soon after eating as she had her college studies to attend to. A pleasant evening was had by all. A fond farewell and safe travels was wished to Mrs. Lucille Loftesnes. She plans to motor to Colorado Springs on Nov. 1st where she'll winter in the company of Mr. and Mrs. Del and Maureen Lang and family.
