Sweet, Simple Things

"The sweet, simple things are the real ones, after all." (Laura Ingalls Wilder)

As spring finally turns to summer in the upper Midwest, I'm enjoying the sweet, simple things of the season. Here are a few:

1. Replacing the flannel sheets on our bed with cool, cotton percale.

2. Walking barefoot in the dewy morning grass.

3. Drinking icy lemonade on the deck after several hours of helping Lenny cut down dead trees in our yard.

4. Opening the heating bill and finding it WAY less than a few months ago.

5. Listening to thunder in the distance as a storm moves across the prairie.
