So I know a person is only born on one day and that is your birthday, but I have to tell you I had a great birthday week this year! It started out last Sunday night when Lenny made a fabulous supper of smoked beef brisket and crab legs and invited my family. Mom brought strawberry shortcake for dessert. Lenny stuck a candle in the whipped cream, I made a wish and blew it out while the family sang Happy Birthday to me. Good times. On Monday nights Lenny and I play whist with our neighbors. I thought they should let us win since it was my birthday week, but that was not to be. Lenny and I got beat up in three hands. Yikes! But they did serve us cheesecake with strawberries and chocolate for a birthday dessert-Yumm!
Tuesday was the BIG day, I got the traveling sash and crown and work.
My thoughtful and generous sister knows how to make a girl's day-she sent fresh tulips and irises all the way from Southern California!
Lenny showed up with the biggest birthday cake balloon I have ever seen!
By this point I was overwhelmed, to say the least.
Later that evening, both of my sons called to FaceTime with the grandchildren to say Happy Birthday and it was precious. BTW, we had left-overs for supper!
Wednesday we were invited to Mom's for another dinner. Delicious pork chops with rice was the main dish. My cousin Jennifer has been visiting so we got to see her again. There was cake and candles and wishes and singing again. FUN!
I had the flowers and balloons in my office all week so it did feel like a week long birthday celebration!
Then just tonight we were invited to my Auntie Ardy's for supper. Jennifer is flying home to Texas tomorrow after her two week visit. Turned out I was the only guest as the others had previous plans and Lenny had come down with a bad cold. The three of us enjoyed each others' company and had plenty of lasagna, salad, and Key Lime Pie.
This past week was so much fun that I think I'll plan a birthday week next year-one day is not nearly enough!
Well, I certainly enjoyed your birthday week! Love, Cousin Jenn
