Sunday Synopsis

So it was another week at Whispering Pines. Nothing spectacular happened, but then it really is the ordinary that makes a life. With that said, here are my top 10 ordinary things this week:
1.  Digging in storage tubs in the basement looking for a certain picture and finding music cassette tapes from the 70's.
2. Dancing in the garage with Lenny to music played on those tapes! (We actually have a cassette player that works.)
3. Finding a new crime novel author, Louise Penny, that I think I'm going to enjoy. It's good to find a new author on the brink of a long North Dakota winter!
4. I made a commitment to spend time working on the quilt that has been a few years in the making. I have made some progress each evening. Yeah!
5. Getting together at Souris River Brewing Pub with friends from 40 years ago at Granville High School. So much fun reminiscing. There are few things more comforting than being with people who have known you your whole life. You don't have to explain your history, they're part of it. You've survived and so have they.
6. Making apple pies with Lenny using the apples from our trees while listening to Willy Nelson sing "You're Always On My Mind". I love Willy Nelson. And apple pies.
7. Walking a mile down the road and enjoying the clear blue sky, the puffy white clouds and the brilliant gem colors of the trees and fields as I walk.
8. I helped a cancer patient with side effects so she could tolerate the life giving immunotherapy for her Stage 4 lung cancer.
9. Going to breakfast on Saturday morning at our usual place. Our favorite server was back after a 4 month absence due to a freak accident. She was pinned up against the Tesoro Station when an idiot driver jumped the sidewalk and hit her. So glad to see her again, running up and down the aisle of Krolls's Diner taking orders  for pancakes and eggs and complaining about obnoxious customers.
10. Watching the Vikings win! Watching Carson Wentz make North Dakota proud.

I hope this next week has as many "ordinary" events! I will report next Sunday.
