Sunday Summary (on Monday) 1.11.16

It was totally a football week-end. I can't tell you when I became a football fan because I don't know how it happened. When Lenny and I were first married neither one of us really cared about the sport. Oh, we went to Super Bowl parties for the snacks and socializing, but I never knew or cared who was playing. But somehow we caught the fever. I think it had to do with the NDSU Bison winning and winning and winning. We're fair weather fans! About the only play I understand is the one where they get the ball in the end zone and it's a touchdown. But if my crowd is cheering, I cheer too! If they're groaning, I groan.

On Saturday there was much cheering for the NDSU Bison. With Teresa's hot and savory vegetable beef soup, crusty bread, Blue Moon beer, family and a national championship, what's not to cheer?!

On Sunday their was a collective groan from Minnesota fans after a missed field goal that most likely caused the team's namesake, our Norwegian Viking ancestors, to groan in their graves. I know it's just a game, but wow, that one hurt. Luckily there was spicy chili with cheese and corn chips to soothe our pain. And just as the tough, ever optimistic, resilient Norwegian farmers say when their crops fall short: "There's always next year."
