I drove to Fargo on Thursday with a co-worker to attend a work related conference. The sessions were fascinating. Cancer research is now focusing on personalized medicine-the individual human genome. Most of us think about cancer as one thing. In reality it is a disease of multiple genetic mutations. Did you know there are literally billions of potential mutations and that it's possible to narrow that down in the lab to YOUR individual mutation? WOW! There is still alot of work to be done because while there are treatments for some of the mutations there is much that is unknown. What we know is only the tip of the iceberg. Stay tuned..
