The News from Whispering Pines

After putting in long hours at their respective places of employment this past week, Mr. and Mrs. Brewer decided to pack it up early on Friday and head to the lake. Mr. Brewer loaded the truck with camping essentials while Mrs. Brewer scurried around the kitchen filling a tub with groceries, silverware, various utensils, paper towels, dog food, and coffee...she mustn't forget the coffee. By the time they were ready to go the truck looked like it was packed for a family of 10 going on a week's vacation! They drove 75 miles to Parshall Bay Recreation Area, which is an arm of Lake Sakakawea, unloaded the truck and set up their lodging for the night.

Mrs. Brewer was tired and ready for relaxation after all the hurry and scurry.

It turned out to be a nice evening with supper cooked over the fire and what else, but S'Mores for dessert!

They intended to get up at sunrise Saturday morning and go fishing, but sleep got the best of them and it was 8:00 by the time their boat hit the water. Mrs. Brewer was the proud catcher of one little walleye. After several hours Mr. Brewer turned the boat back to shore. They ate a small lunch then went out again in an attempt to catch enough fish for supper. It was not to be. As the temperature was nearing 100 degrees, the Brewers' decided to break camp and head home to Whispering Pines. No fish for supper!

It was much work for a short time, but both Mr. and Mrs. Brewer say it was worth it to enjoy the outdoors in the "roughing it" style!
