It's not easy for me to find joy in early morning. Mostly I just want to stay in bed and put the covers over my head. I'm not a morning person. But for some reason, I layed in our bed this morning and was aware of the sweet, simple things that happen in the early morning and really do make it a joy, if I'm aware. I think it's the spring air making it's way into the pleasure centers of my brain. These are the things that put a smile on my face in pre-dawn today:
1. Waking up to birds singing their sweet spring songs outside my bedroom window.
2. The very cool early spring breeze blowing in my bedroom window, causing me to pull up the flannel sheets and quilts and snuggle in for 15 more minutes after the alarm pulled me into consciousness.
3. Hearing and smelling the coffee perking in the kitchen while I tick off the minutes I have left in my "cocoon".
4. One last mini-dream. Ooh...it was good..... images of family members past and present.
5. Lenny coming in to kiss me good-bye and remind me to be careful when I back my car out of the garage when I leave for work -what a guy!
...and all of these things took place before I even put my feet on the floor this morning!
