It was a year ago on Sept. 10 that I loaded up my Blue Honda with the last of my essentials, steered north on I25 and set my cruise control to North Dakota. I was reluctantly leaving Wyoming. I liked my job and had some made some good friends in the 6 years I'd lived in Wyoming. I wasn't sure what it would be like living near my childhood home and I didn't have a job yet. So I was surprised when as my car got close to ND, the feeling I had was relief. Partly because Lenny and I would be together again after living apart for 2 months and partly because I was going home. So, on the anniversary of this move, I've made 2 lists.
Top 5 things I miss about Wyoming:
5. The salsa and chips at La Costa on 2nd St. Just the right combination of ingredients, heavy on the cilantro, which I love. Yumm........
4. Sunday drives up Casper Mountain. Especially in the spring when the mountainside was verdant green, and in the fall when the foliage colors were vibrant and magnificent.
3. Saturday morning breakfast with friends at Westside Cafe.
2. We had darn nice neighbors.
1. My job at Rocky Mountain Oncology Center. The people I worked with were dedicated and loved their work (most days). The building was beautifully built with amenities for patients and staff and a beautiful view of the Wyoming landscape.
Top 5 things I like about North Dakota:
5. I have a dining room and a dining room table.
4. Sunday night suppers with family.
3. We have horses and cows just across the fence in our backyard.
2. We're 4 hours away from children and grandchildren instead of 12 hours.
1. Lefse and lutefisk are available year-round at the grocery store!
