Wheel of Fortune and a Science Lesson

Lenny is coming home this afternoon from a week in Las Vegas. He was there for a safety training course. It was his first visit to the Sin City and he was quite amazed. I've been there once and I found it to be a fasciniating people watching mecca! He called me nightly as he was feeding quarters into Wheel of Fortune. (That's my favorite slot machine.) It sounds like he did better on it than I ever have. He took $200 from our "fun money stash" and he left with that and more. That is if he doesn't get carried away at the airport slots! Actually it's probably a better bet with our money than the stock market! The outside thermometer is supposed to be climbing today instead of falling like it has been all week. On Wednesday of this week, I had a science lesson in how liquids expands when they freeze. The 12-pack of Diet Coke I had stored in the garage got too cold and one of the cans blew up! (at least it was only one) Another science lesson: the Miller Hi-Life that was out there didn't freeze--is that due to the alcohol content and the fact that alcohol has a higher freezing temp? I'm glad because Lenny wouldn't have been happy to come home to his Hi-Life splattered all over the garage wall.

  1. The alcohol is definitely a factor, but the beer will freeze if it gets cold enough. I learned this lesson in high school. Don't ask me how :)
